Comparing Freight Forwarding Software
Considering a switch from your current freight forwarding platform?
If pricing, support, release speed, or integration flexibility are why you're evaluating alternatives, here's how Expedient compares — predictable pricing, no reseller support queue, no waiting on someone else's release schedule.

Why forwarders switch
Four reasons AU and NZ forwarders move to Expedient
These are the reasons customers give us most often when they're evaluating a change from their current platform.
Price
Simple, predictable pricing that rewards your growth instead of penalizing it.
Support
Real, responsive support from the team that has looked after its customers for 30 years — not the ticket queue forwarders on legacy platforms have complained about for years.
Agile
We ship product updates fast, on current technology, in a quick and controlled release cycle — and we apply every update for you. Truly SaaS: no upgrade projects for your team to run.
Integration
All integration — EDI, Xero, ContainerChain — is built and supported in-house. No third-party vendor in the middle.
What you get with Expedient
- In-house integration team — no third-party integration vendor to coordinate with
- Pricing you can forecast as your business grows
- Fast, controlled release cycle on current technology
- A direct support relationship, not a ticket queue routed through resellers
- AU and NZ customs compliance built in, not bolted on
- One integrated platform for forwarding, customs, and accounting — end to end, not pieced together
Frequently Asked Questions
How hard is it to switch freight forwarding software?
Switching is a real project, but a well-run migration is a bounded one — master data, open shipments, and existing integrations are the main scope items to plan around. Expedient's in-house team works through the cutover with you directly, rather than routing it through a reseller or third party, so the timeline, dependencies, and decisions stay in your control from discovery through go-live, not somebody else's schedule.
Do we still need a separate accounting system alongside Expedient?
No. Expedient includes a full general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking, so forwarding, customs, and the finance side of every job run in the same system. If your finance team prefers to keep Xero, Expedient integrates with it directly, with the integration built and supported in-house rather than by a third party.
Will switching disrupt our EDI and accounting integrations?
Expedient builds and supports all integration work in-house, including EDI, Xero, and ContainerChain, so there is no separate third-party integration vendor to coordinate a cutover with on top of the software migration itself. Integrations are mapped, configured, and tested as part of onboarding rather than bolted on afterwards, which is typically the slowest and riskiest part of moving off another forwarding platform.
